Yesterday was the first night a group of us went out to dinner in Heredia. We went to an Italian restaurant and ordered pizzas. The pizza is amazing here, its not as greasy because their cheeses don't have a lot of fat in them. I don't know how they do it but I like it. We ordered hawaiian pizza and pizza with mushrooms, onions, and pepperoni. Afterwards, a few of us went to Pops Ice Cream. Pops is the ice cream chain here. Other ice cream stores have tried to start in Central America but Pops seems to beat them all out every time. I don't really know why though... Their ice cream isn't crazy exceptional, but they do have a lot of choices like bananas dipped in chocolate.
Today I had cooking class! I was late though because of tons of annoying people at the post office! If I want to send a letter I have to walk to the post office which is only like a mile away but its still pretty far when you have a ton of things to do. There was this guy who was staring me down. I am really tired of all these men staring at me, I feel like i'm at a construction site! Anyway, he just kept looking at me. Later when I went to put my stuff down, I saw he was sitting on the bench and I was like ok never mind. Then he said "Are you American" So apparently he was only staring at me because he wanted to see where my letters were going to. He was from the Netherlands... it was really random. The thing is, I stick out like a sore thumb because A. I am so white and B. I dress like an American. I mean please, its 80 degrees outside, i'm going to wear shorts. Girls here just don't wear shorts because of the men who constantly honk their horn or stick their head out of the car and try to talk to you. It even happens to girls who are walking with their boyfriends, ugh. So for cooking class tonight we made, basically quiche. But 3 different types. The types we made I thought were ok, but I could definitely be more creative. I like the cooking class because it allows me to see cooking as a feeling and not necessarily by the book. For the dessert we made, it was like apple bread and there were even some modifications I would have done to make it even tastier!
